Couple of weeks ago Peter and I had some time off work and throw together a trip to California. My awesome sister in law, Shara, let us use their car because it has air-conditioning and is like 10 years newer then mine. Our first adventure stop was Virgina Cit, Nevada. It was a booming gold mining town carved out to the Nevada dessert hill side. It was one of the most wild west towns of its time. Many of the original buildings still stand and claim to be hunted. One of these pictures is of a hunted wedding chapel. Creepy, can you say doomed for divorce.
Next, we drove through Tahoe. It was too cold to stop. That evening we spent in Sacramento. This was Peter's old stomping ground, when he worked for the state of California. He spent most of the evening showing me all of his old hunts. We ate at a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant, which was the most amazing Chinese food I have ever had. Then we walked down by the river, which is called the old down town and has a lot of charm.
Our travels took us next to the Redwood National Forest. Peter had never seen those silent giants and it was neat to see throw new eyes.
if you look closely at this tree you might see why I think this is a male tree.
We stopped for seafood in Eureka. Nothing like fresh catch of the day halibut. We also saw some great architecture.
Next stop! San Francisco! Both Peter and I have family living in San Francisco, but no one was in town. But there were many things for us to check out; the Boardwalk, Telegraph hill, China town and the adventure of driving up and down the hills of that city.
We spent most of our time in China town because it really felt like we oceans away from any american city I have been in. There were so many sights and sounds to take in. I loved seeing all of the fresh food markets on every corner.
