we are HOME

Over Thanksgiving we finished moving in to our first house! It is so nice to know that we don't have to move in the next 6 months. I absolutely love coming home from work and feeling like I have my very own place to call home. There is tons of little projects to work on in the house and I still have a room full of boxes to go through. For the most part we are pretty settled in. We have chosen the room on the main floor to be our bedroom which is nice because it has a largest closet and the bathroom next to it has an amazing shower, there is one drawback the room is small and barely fits our king size bed and little nightstands.
All of the walls in our house are made from lath and plaster which is what was used before drywall. If you get a hole in it it is very challenging to fix it. Also, it is not very well insulated and if we tried blowing in any insulation it could become molding because the lath and plaster doesn't breath very well. if you touch any wall in the house it will be freezing during any time of the day. Our poor furnace is too small to heat the main floor because of the 10 foot ceilings and so we may need a new one. We are also looking for other ways to winterize our house. Peter wants to see if there is some way to access the old fire place and but a wood burning stove in to help with heating and encase of emergencies.
Come spring the poor outside of the house needs a major face lift.

The day after Thanksgiving Peter was abscessed with cutting down a fresh tree. Bless his hart he thought that the weather was going to get bad and we had way too much stuff to do, so he bought a live 9 foot tall sub-alpine fir tree. It is pretty. I have married such a Christmas crazed hubby.

I can't wait to see it! I think we should invite ourselves over before the 26th...
