On Saturday Peter received a call from his boss telling him that the council will have to shutdown Camp Maple Dell for opening week because 3 of the staff members had swine flu and they needed to quarantine the whole camp. Because of this, the council offered the campers who would be coming that week to relocate to Camp TIFIE or reschedule for another week. He then asked if Peter and I would help out camp TIFIE because of the over crowding and it was Camp TIFIE's first week ever running.
So we volunteered and headed up Sunday night. Fortunately my mother compound is close by the camp so we stayed at it. It was a lot better then having to camp in the cold. While there I needed to hunt for my birth certificate. She was't there and good thing because we found because, Oh boy did we find some good treasures. We found many pictures and clipping of Merrile Osmond, and we think that she has a obsession with him. We also saw the extent of preparedness stash. If never seen so much crap in one persons house. She saves everything, just in case you might need it if the world ends. shes tons of car batteries, fuel, health and beauty, and junk, you name it she has got it. She also has a large collection of New Age healing books and mysticism stuff. There is just a creepy feeling in that house even though everywhere you turn is a Jesus picture. Good thing we where so busy at camp that we only slept there.
At camp I was responsible for teaching 3 merit badges; Forestry, Soil and water conservation, and Mammal study. ( good thing I had very little knowledge about each of these subjects, its been 10 years since I've taken any science classes with these subjects)
I spent every waking moment studying, I felt like I was studying for a major final. But once I had a firm understanding of the subjects, I really enjoyed teaching them.
