I'm famous by mention only. Yesterday I was watching channel 4 news and saw a segment about an elderly man who dropped a bunch of money. I swore that he looked like my grandfather. So I called him and asked him if it was him. He said it wasn't him. I read the article online and it said that this man was buying coffee, so i dismissed thinking it was him. But check out this article:
"Julio Venegas and Richard Fairbanks (Marcos Ortiz, ABC 4 News) SOUTH SALT LAKE UTAH (ABC4 News) - Julio Venegas said he was just doing his job.But returning $1,200 that was left on the floor isn’t an ordinary task.Last Thursday, Venegas who is a clerk at the Chevron station in South Salt Lake returned the money to police. For several days, the unclaimed money sat at police headquarters.Yesterday, ABC4 NEWS ran the story of the lost money and within hours, the rightful owner came forward.“Last night, two of my grand daughters said I was on television,” said Richard Fairbanks who lost the money at the convenience store. “One of them said turn on Channel 4 and so I did catch part of it."Fairbanks arrived at the police station and got his money back."I thought it was fantastic that someone would pick it up and turn it in,” he said. “It’s really unusual. Wonderful.”Fairbanks went to the Chevron station to thank Venegas personally."Julio the man I wanted to see,” Fairbanks said as the two men met. “I wanted to thank you so much for returning that money, it's wonderful of you."It was no big deal for Venegas."I wanted to do the right thing," he said. When police released the surveillance tape, one of the customers actually tried to claim the money as his. But Venegas knew better. And when the customer tried to convince Venegas to split it, the clerk said no."I was kind of shocked that somebody else was going to take it,” he said.Despite the temptation, Venegas kept it and headed to the police station."I thought about it wasn't my money so I had to turn it in to the right person," he said. And Fairbanks, who is a landlord and was collecting rents the day he lost the money, is forever grateful.“It’s great, fantastic,” he said.

I guess everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame but I am pretty sure Grandpa didn't really want his. :)
To note: the reporters got it wrong. You can CLEARLY see on the surveillence tape that Grandpa bought a coke.
so nice to know that honesty still exists in the world, ya know?
