This past Saturday Peter and I took a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate his birthday. We decided to visit the Vegas Temple and then go to dinner in town. On our way up to the Temple we had to drive through one of the slums. There were so many people just out wandering the streets, it looked like all of the light and life was drained out of them. It was such a stark contrast compared to the celestial glow the Temple workers had. Our entire trip seemed to be one dichotomy after another. The Temple stood on a hill above all of the smog and worldly troubles. It really is a safe haven.
After our Temple visit we went to the strip to have dinner. The best part of that evening was when we walked in front of the Bellagio and was stopped by the fountain show. We stood there shocked by what we heard in the middle of “Sin City”; The Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah. Could anything be more ironic? In our own modern Sodom and Gomorra, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir was singing praises of our Savoir.

Hey, when do you guys get here? Ashlyn wants to do a sweet and sassy birthday party at our house before school gets out for Christmas break. I could really use your help if you're up here!

Sweet and Sassy is that salon for little girls in Draper. It's sooooo expensive, there's no way Ash is getting a party there. I told her I'd make her own Sweet and Sassy party in our house! I'm planning it for Saturday the 20th from 1 to 3ish. So basically, I just need help to paint a bunch of little girl's fingernails, do some makeup, and maybe curl/style hair. I thought it'd be fun if you would help, if you'll be here that day!
